14 January – 3 March 2012 | Jane Johnson Ceramics Exhibition | Jane Johnson creates beautiful textured jugs and watering cans, with an aged, worn look that is tactile and recognizable. Made from slabs of hand rolled clay and textured with familiar patterns, it is sometimes unclear what material these objects are made from. Jane likes to play with form, function and textures linking a garden element with her spouted watering cans that are made to display flowers and her jugs that vary in size from the petite to the capacious designed for the same purpose. 18 January – 11 March 2012 | Springworks | The Oxford Printmakers is a long established workshop set up in 1976 when a group of artists, many from the Ruskin School of Drawing, wanted to continue their work at a time when there were few print workshops in the UK and none within the Oxford area. This is a wonderful opportunity to see work by a large number of new and prominent printmakers (there are some 80 members), and to appreciate the vast array of printing techniques in use, varying from vibrant innovative styles to more traditional methods developed since the 16th century: collagraphy, etching, monoprinting, chine colle, drypoint, screenprinting, woodcut, inocut, wood engraving and stone lithography. 9 – 28 March 2012 | Modelling the Monastery Exhibition | Subject to a successful funding bid, young people will take over the exhibition space and stage their own exhibition about life in the Middle Ages.
